Person standing outside van on I-580 shoulder fatally hit by compact SUV

DUBLIN — The California Highway Patrol is seeking more witnesses to a two-car crash on an East Bay freeway that killed a person early Sunday.

The wreck happened about 2:35 a.m. on the right shoulder of westbound Interstate 580 east of Eden Canyon Road.

According to the CHP, a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer veered onto the right shoulder and hit a 2021 Ford E-Transit van. The CHP said the van’s driver was outside the vehicle and hit by the Trailblazer.
