A man in Nebraska spent hours buckled into his upside-down car Tuesday morning after swerving to avoid a deer and crashing into a creek.
After workers noticed debris on a hill above Deadman’s Run creek in Lincoln, they heard the driver calling for help at about 7:45 a.m. and then called emergency services to get the man out of the car.
Driver Dalton Slunecka, 27, was in his upside-down and totaled SUV for at least five hours and was conscious and talking when first responders arrived.
Mr. Slunecka told them that he had hit a guardrail while swerving to avoid a deer before hitting a guardrail, sliding down an embankment, and ending up overturned in the shallow creek.
“We did transport the driver to the hospital with pretty serious injuries. Certainly, due to the fact that the vehicle rolled multiple times, if the driver was truly there for six hours, it is pretty remarkable that they are alive for sure,” Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg told KETV-TV.
