I got stuck in the toilet at work on the first day in my new role – my colleagues had to kick down the door to save me

A hilarious video shows a woman stuck in the toilet of her workplace for 30 minutes in her first day on the job.

For Lola Bridger, 23, disaster struck during an otherwise great first day in her new admin assistant role in London.

At the end of the day, she made what she thought would be a quick trip to the toilet, only to be left mortified when the door became stuck, leaving her locked from inside.

Lola was trapped for half an hour before eventually being freed by hero staff members who kicked the door down to save her.

After she posted a TikTok video filmed before she was freed, people joked Lola will forever be known as ‘the employee who got stuck in the toilet’.

This is the hysterical moment a woman is locked inside a toilet for a whopping 30 minutes, before finally being freed by her colleagues (Pictured: Lola Bridges)

Lola said: ‘I got a new job as an admin assistant up in London, I was leaving to go home for the day and popped to the loo.

‘The door closed normally although I did notice it was a bit stiff, but once I closed it seemed to be fine.

‘I tried opening it and it wasn’t working at all, the lock had gotten permanently stuck in the lock position so no matter how much I unlocked and locked it, it didn’t change the position of it in the door frame.

‘I was stuck for 30 minutes, luckily I had my phone, so I messaged the work group chat that I just literally got added to moments before.’

In a video posted to TikTok, Lola groans, ‘It’s my first day’, before attempting to hold the toilet door handle down and escape the cubicle.

She then relentlessly tried to shift her entire weight against the wall to wrench the door open.

In the next scene, she re-angled her phone by placing it on the toilet, showing her once again trying to prize the door open whilst pulling on its handle.

After several more attempts, Lola turned around to face the camera and squatted on the floor before letting out a defeated sigh of frustration.

The debacle continued as the video cut to what appeared to be sounds of laughter coming from an unidentified woman saying: ‘Turn it the other way.’

Lola stood upright on the toilet seat and shouted back: ‘Don’t laugh, I’m claustrophobic!’

‘Oh no. It’s actually stuck, what a first day,’ replied the woman. The pair then chuckled at the bizarre moment together.

The colleague may have been Lola’s saving grace as she later called the maintenance team to come along and help.

‘One of the ladies who I work with came down and tried to open it from the outside,’ explained Lola.

‘And then when she knew we couldn’t do anything she got the maintenance team to come down.

‘They tried everything and even got these magnet things to lift the door up but that didn’t work either, so the last resort was booting down the door.’

Lola said things came to a head when she began feeling ‘claustrophobic’, while her body began to heat up.

‘I am claustrophobic and was getting hot and sweaty,’ she said. ‘Plus my friends were laughing at the fact I told them I was stuck.

‘So I thought to film it to keep my mind occupied and my friends entertained.

‘Then after I was rescued, I went straight to the pub for a large wine because it was all a bit too much for me.

‘I was slightly embarrassed but it wasn’t my fault, so I looked at the funny side of things.

There was no sympathy for her ordeal as people joked she would forever be known as the 'employee who got stuck in the toilet'

‘They sent an email out to work in the morning stating the new starter Lola got stuck in the toilet yesterday and the door must be removed – that was more embarrassing!’

In the video, Lola can be heard joking: ‘At least everyone’s going to know my name now aren’t they, f***ing idiot who got stuck in the toilet’.

Eventually, two men batter the door down by crashing against it before the lock actually breaks and Lola is freed, half an hour later.

The clip has since received over 450,000 likes and more than 3,800 comments from users left in stitches by Lola’s poor luck.

Sharing a similar experience, one person wrote: ‘They better not call you toilet girl. My first day I tripped on a one-inch step, hit my head on a glass door and got concussion’.

Another joked: ‘The fact you’ll now be known as the employee who got stuck in the toilet’.

‘I would have called the office crying my eyes out,’ chimed in another.

‘Who’s laughing now at our American toilets with a gap big enough to crawl under the door,’ asked a fourth.

Meanwhile some else said: ‘I’d have to go home. I’ll try again another day’.
