All flights have been suspended at Luton airport as a huge fire tears through a terminal car park.

Access to the airport has been restricted and people told not to travel, London Luton said in a statement.

The inferno was caused by a car fire, the airport has said, and emergency services are in attendance.

Passengers have claimed online that boarded flights on the tarmac are being disembarked and that they have been told the airport has closed.

Eyewitness Molly Bullard described ‘scary scenes’ as the short stay was ‘exploding into flames’.

Footage shows vicious fires whipped up by the wind, which appear to have covered much of the roof of the multi-storey structure.

The airport wrote on X: ‘Emergency services are currently responding to a car fire in Terminal Car Park 2, restricting access to the airport.’
